Carrots are getting cheaper in Ukraine: what are the reasons?

23 November 2025 05:19

Negative price trends have been established on the Ukrainian carrot market, according to analysts of the EastFruitproject, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

At the same time, according to market participants, the demand for these root crops today remains quite restrained, as vegetables of medium and low quality are increasingly offered for sale. Wholesale companies purchase carrots as needed, preferring not to store the products for a long time, which negatively affects the overall price level.

As of today, Ukrainian producers are shipping carrots at 5-11 UAH/kg ($0.12-0.26/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the offered batches, which is on average 21% cheaper than a week earlier. The main reason for the decline in prices for root vegetables, according to the project experts, is the seasonal increase in the supply of vegetables on the market with different quality indicators against the background of rather restrained demand for these products. Therefore, in an effort to boost sales, farmers are forced to revise selling prices for existing carrot batches downward.

It is worth adding that today wholesale consignments of these vegetables in Ukraine are on sale, on average, 59% cheaper than in the same period last year.
