Joint Cyber Front: Ukraine Joins the EU Cybersecurity Reserve

Ukraine can now access emergency cybersecurity support from the European Union to respond to large-scale cyber incidents. This became possible after the Council of the European Union approved Ukraine’s inclusion in the EU Cybersecurity Reserve.

This was reported by the European Commission’s press service , according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

This decision is a testament to the close cooperation between the EU and Ukraine and aligns with the strategic digital partnership that both sides are actively developing.

As noted in the statement, it is part of the European Commission’s broader efforts aimed at protecting against constantly evolving cyber threats. This is achieved through preparedness, rapid response, and the sharing of common experiences.

Hanna Wirkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Technological Sovereignty, Security, and Democracy, emphasized the importance of this step:

“By welcoming Ukraine into the EU Cybersecurity Pool, we are strengthening our collective defense and reaffirming the principle of solidarity that underpins Europe’s digital future. At a time when cyberattacks pose a constant threat, our unity is our greatest asset.”

ENISA’s Role

The EU Cybersecurity Pool, managed by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), provides incident response services.

This is done through collaboration with trusted private-sector providers capable of effectively responding to large-scale cyber incidents.
