A new national holiday has been established in Ukraine: Communications and Cybersecurity Forces Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
8 August 19:10
On August 6, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Decree No. 713/2026 establishing a new professional holiday. From now on, Ukraine will celebrate the Day of the Signal Corps and Cybersecurity Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine every year on August 8, writes "Komersant Ukrainian".
The document has already been published on the head of state’s official website, and the decree itself took effect on the day of its publication. The document states that the new holiday was established “to honor the courage and heroism of the soldiers of the Signal Corps and Cybersecurity Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, demonstrated in the struggle for Ukraine’s freedom, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as to foster military traditions.”
Concurrently with the introduction of the new professional holiday, the head of state repealed Presidential Decree No. 154/2000 of February 1, 2000, “On Communications Forces Day.”
The Signal and Cybersecurity Forces play one of the key roles in modern warfare. They ensure uninterrupted communication between military units, protect information systems from cyberattacks, support the operation of digital infrastructure, and facilitate effective command and control of troops.
