The United Kingdom has announced its largest-ever package of drone supplies for Ukraine, which includes the delivery of at least 120,000 drones this year. This was reported bytheBritishgovernment, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The new military aid package, which is the largest for the UK in the field of UAV supply, will include thousands of long-range strike drones, reconnaissance drones, logistics drones, and maritime assets that have already been battle-tested on the front lines in Ukraine. Deliveries of the new UAVs began this month.
“This significant boost of battle-tested drones will provide Ukrainian forces with the capabilities needed to defend their people and fight Russian aggression. In recent weeks, attention has been focused on the Middle East—Putin wants to divert our attention, but Ukrainians continue to fight with tremendous courage, and nothing will make us turn away from them until we secure peace,” said Defense Minister John Giley.
According to the statement, the new package of drones is supported by broader UK military aid to Ukraine this year totaling 3 billion pounds, as well as ERA funding.
“This is part of a new leading global defense partnership agreed upon last month, which involves the UK and Ukraine working together to strengthen global defense capabilities against the proliferation of low-cost, high-tech military equipment, including drones.”
The announcement from London came as the British defense minister heads to Berlin to co-chair the 34th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which is expected to bring together 50 countries.
At the meeting, Gili will also confirm that Britain will provide Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of artillery shells and thousands of air defense missiles this year.
As reported, the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (the “Ramstein” format) will take place in Germany on April 15. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will participate in the meeting.
