As of today, July 15, 2026, new public transportation fares have officially taken effect in the Ukrainian capital. From now on, a single ride on the metro, bus, trolleybus, tram, or funicular costs 30 hryvnias. At the same time, a discount system has been introduced for passengers who regularly use public transportation, along with new monthly passes. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the Kyiv City State Administration and the “Kyiv Digital” service .
How much does public transportation cost in Kyiv now?
As of July 15, the cost of a single trip on all types of public transportation is:
- subway — 30 UAH;
- bus — 30 UAH;
- trolleybus — 30 UAH;
- tram — 30 UAH;
- funicular — 30 UAH.
The new fares were introduced after the completion of all necessary regulatory procedures and public consultation.
The Kyiv City State Administration explained that the previous fare had not been adjusted since 2018, while transportation companies’ costs had risen significantly due to increases in the prices of electricity, fuel, infrastructure repairs, and wages.
Due to the fare increase, the fine for riding without a ticket has risen to 600 UAH (20 times the cost of a single trip);

How to Save Money on Travel
For transit card holders, a discount system is in place based on the number of trips purchased.
The cost of a single trip is:
- 1–9 trips — 30.00 UAH;
- 10–19 — 28.90 UAH;
- 20–29 — 27.80 UAH;
- 30–39 — 26.60 UAH;
- 40–49 — 25.50 UAH;
- 50 trips — 25.00 UAH per trip.
Thus, the maximum savings when purchasing a 50-trip pass is 250 hryvnias compared to paying for each trip separately.
What will happen to the old 8-hryvnia trips?
The “Kyiv Digital” service has announced that all trips purchased before July 14 will remain valid until September 14, 2026.
After that date, unused trips will not be canceled. They will automatically be converted into their cash equivalent and credited to the transit card balance.
For example, if there are 10 trips remaining on the card, purchased at 6.50 hryvnias each, the user will receive 65 hryvnias in their transit card’s e-wallet, which can be used to pay for fares under the new rates.
New Monthly Passes
For passengers who use public transportation daily, new monthly passes are available:
- 46 trips — 1,088 UAH;
- 62 trips — 1,463 UAH;
- 92 trips — 2,156 UAH;
- 124 trips — 2,888 UAH;
- unlimited monthly pass — 3,656 UAH.
The Kyiv City State Administration notes that using passes reduces the actual cost of a single trip to approximately 23–24 hryvnias.
Discounts for Students and Schoolchildren
The right to discounted fares remains in effect.
Specifically:
- students pay 50% of the cost of a monthly pass;
- schoolchildren receive a 75% discount during summer vacation and are entitled to free travel on public transportation during the school year.
A new ticket will be introduced on August 1
Starting August 1, the capital also plans to introduce a 90-minute transfer ticket.
It will cost 60 hryvnias, and passengers will be able to transfer between the metro and surface public transit an unlimited number of times for one and a half hours.
