24 April 09:37
The General Staff announced the removal of the commander of the 14th Mechanized Brigade following a media scandal sparked by a catastrophic shortage of supplies for the troops, reports "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
This concerns soldiers of the 14th Mechanized Brigade who were attached to the 30th Brigade and were stationed in the area of responsibility near Kupiansk. Photos of very thin and exhausted soldiers appeared online, and their relatives told the press about the dire state of food supplies to the brigade.
Quoting her soldier husband, one woman reported that the soldiers had been stationed without food or water for 10, 15, and even 17 days, which significantly affected their health and weight.

It was even reported that men had fainted due to a lack of food and water. Supply problems began as early as December of last year. The soldiers went to the front weighing 80–90 kilograms, but now most of them weigh around 50 kilograms.
It turned out that the soldiers had no contact with their families, which made it impossible for loved ones to send them food. The soldiers’ radios were allegedly not working.
How the General Staff explained the situation
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attributes this unfortunate situation to significant logistical challenges in the area of responsibility of the 14th Mechanized Brigade, near Kupiansk, as the Russians are constantly conducting intense shelling there.
They had to transport provisions to the troops using heavy drones and other methods via the Oskol River.
However, the General Staff acknowledges that, un , the command of the 14th Mechanized Brigade concealed the true state of affairs, so a decision was made to implement personnel changes.
“A series of personnel decisions have been made to rectify the situation. Specifically, the commander of the 14th Mechanized Brigade has been removed from his post, and the commander of the 10th Army Corps has been relieved of his duties and demoted,” the General Staff stated.
The General Staff promises an investigation
The General Staff reports that an official investigation will be conducted at into the incident that led to tragic consequences, and those responsible will be punished. Decisions on new appointments have also been made.
“Colonel Taras Maksimov has been appointed commander of the 14th Mechanized Brigade, and Brigadier General Artem Bogomolov has taken command of the 10th Army Corps,” the General Staff wrote.
As a reminder, in Odesa, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out a high-profile special operation against an organized group that included employees of the Territorial Election Commission and a police major. The arrest involved a chase, shots fired at the vehicle’s tires, and a forceful raid right in the middle of the city. According to the investigation, those detained include eight representatives of the Peresypsky District TCC and the Joint Forces, as well as a district police officer from the Suvorovsky District Police Department.
