If the situation on the frontline does not change in the near future, the Russian military may launch an offensive on Zaporizhzhia. This was stated by Major Valeriy Prozapas of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the military, the Russian Armed Forces will attack the city more actively after they have advanced in the Donetsk sector.
“Now, from the south and southeast, they will try to move towards the regional centre (Zaporizhzhia – ed.). We remember that Putin included Zaporizhzhia in the Russian constitution, where it is listed as Russian. Of course, we (Ukraine – ed.) need to pay maximum attention there,” said Valeriy Prozapas.
The opinion that there is a threat of Russian troops in Zaporizhzhia is shared by Ivan Stupak, a former member of the Security Service of Ukraine.
In a conversation with the media, he said the following: “There will be no offensive in Sumy region at the moment, as the enemy has no resources. But the south, Zaporizhzhia region – there is different information there”.
“There is a settlement on the border of two regions, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk, called Novodarivka. They can try to move inland towards the Kurakhove-Zaporizhzhia road, cut off this road, block our communication, force us to withdraw from Kurakhove and quickly capture a significant part of the territory without making huge efforts,” Stupak said.
