Defending Ukraine Since the Start of the War: New Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Logistics Forces Appointed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Yuriy Pogribny as commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by [Komersant], citing a corresponding decree issued by the head of state.

“To appoint Yuriy Ivanovych Pogribny as commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the decree states.

In a separate decree, the president dismissed Volodymyr Karpenko from the post of Commander of the Logistics Forces.

Yuriy Pogribny: What Is Known About Him

Yuriy Pogribny is 41 years old. He is a native of the Sumy region.

In 2007, he graduated from the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Sumy Military Institute of Rocket Forces and Artillery.

He began his military service in the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade, where he rose through the ranks from platoon commander to deputy division commander. In 2014, Pogribny was part of this same brigade at the start of the war, which participated in the liberation of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Lyman, and other settlements in eastern Ukraine.

In 2020, Pogribnyi took command of the 532nd Separate Repair and Restoration Regiment, which supported the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia fronts.

In 2024, he completed operational-strategic training at the National Defense University of Ukraine, after which he became the chief of armaments for the “East” Operational Command.

Later, Pogribnyi began serving as acting commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Logistics Forces.

The Logistics Forces are responsible, in particular, for supplying troops with weapons, ammunition, equipment, fuel, and food, as well as for repairing military equipment.
