A Zeekr 7X drove itself out of a destroyed car dealership in Kyiv: the dealer has promised to resume operations

4 June 09:05

In Kyiv, Zeekr, a supplier of premium electric vehicles, released a symbolic video showing the evacuation of one of its cars following a Russian attack on a car dealership, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

The Russian strike on the Zeekr showroom in Kyiv occurred during a massive attack on the capital on the night of June 2. Following this, the dealership in the Podilskyi district temporarily suspended operations.

On its Threads page, the company posted a video showing a brand-new Zeekr 7X electric crossover driving itself out of the capital’s car dealership and service center, which were completely destroyed as a result of the recent enemy attack and a massive fire.

“Our Zeekr 7X is driving out of the dealership on its own, which was destroyed by an enemy attack. We are doing our utmost to welcome you to our new showroom as soon as possible!” the company stated.

What will happen to the brand in Ukraine next?

As is known, the Zeekr brand, owned by Chinese giant Geely, does not have its own representative office or an official importer from the factory in Ukraine.

All Zeekr dealerships in Ukraine, including the one damaged by shelling, are owned by independent multi-brand dealers who import cars from China on their own, adapt them, and provide their own dealer warranty rather than a factory warranty.

The owners of the burned-down dealership in Kyiv’s Obolon district have already announced the opening of a new location.

However, it is not yet clear whether this involves a major renovation and restoration of the destroyed building or whether the brand will move to a different location in Kyiv altogether.

What is known about the Zeekr brand in Ukraine

Zeekr is a premium electric vehicle brand of the Chinese Geely Group. In 2023, the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NAZK) added Zhejiang Geely Holding Group to the list of international sponsors of the war, noting that the holding company owns, among others, Zeekr, Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus, and that the company continued active operations in the Russian market following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The NACP’s statement notes that Geely not only did not withdraw from the Russian market but also increased its sales, paying taxes to the Russian budget. It is precisely for this reason that the holding company was included in the list of international sponsors of the war.
