Zelenskyy dismissed Stefanishyna from her post as Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S.

On Monday, August 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Olga Stefanishyna from her post as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the relevant decree issued by the head of state.
“To dismiss Olga Vitaliivna Stefanishyna from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States of America,” the decree states.
No decree appointing a new Ukrainian ambassador to the U.S. has been issued yet.
Olga Stefanishyna: What Is Known About Her
Olga Stefanishyna was born on October 29, 1985, in Odesa.
In 2008, she graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in international law and a qualification as an English translator.
In 2016, Stefanishyna graduated from Odesa National Economic University with a degree in “Finance and Credit.”
She attended diplomatic academies in Vienna (Austria) and Tallinn (Estonia).
From 2006 to 2007, she worked in private legal practice.
From 2007 to 2010, she worked at the State Department for the Adaptation of Legislation as a specialist and head of the department for legal support of European integration.
2010–2015: Department of International Law/Department of European Integration at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Deputy Director/Director.
From March through December 2017, she served as Director of the Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration within the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers.
In December 2017, she was appointed Director General of the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration at the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers.
From January to June 2020, she served as an advisor at the law firm “Ilyashev & Partners.”
In the 2019 snap parliamentary elections, Olga Stefanishyna ran for the Verkhovna Rada on the “Groysman’s Ukrainian Strategy” party list as candidate No. 25, but did not win a seat in parliament.
On June 4, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint Olga Stefanishyna as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine. She has been a member of the National Security and Defense Council since August 17, 2020.
On September 3, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Olga Stefanishyna submitted her resignation to the Rada. On September 4, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada approved Stefanishyna’s dismissal from the post of Deputy Prime Minister.
On September 5, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada approved the appointment of Olga Stefanishyna as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine—Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
On July 17, 2025, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree appointing Olga Stefanishyna as the Special Representative of the President of Ukraine for the Development of Cooperation with the United States.
In August 2025, Stefanishyna was appointed Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States.
