Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is allegedly ready to meet with Vladimir Putin and should contact the Russian leader by phone to initiate negotiations. Robert Fico made this statement on his Facebook page, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Following his trip to Moscow, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico made a series of statements regarding possible negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

According to him, during a personal conversation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly expressed his readiness to meet with Putin in any format. At the same time, Fico noted that he had conveyed this message to the Russian side.

He also disclosed the response, which, according to him, was voiced by Putin.

“If the Ukrainian president is interested in a meeting, he should contact his Russian counterpart by phone,” Fico said.

Separately, Fico spoke positively about the idea of extending the ceasefire, stating that this could create space for diplomatic efforts and the negotiation process.

Message to Putin

As a reminder, earlier Slovak Foreign Ministry Secretary Rastislav Hovanec said that during his visit to Moscow on May 9, Prime Minister Robert Fico would deliver a message from Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

According to him, Fico may also receive valuable information from the Kremlin leader regarding how the Russian dictator views efforts to end the war.

Zelenskyy’s office clarified that Fico likely conveyed to the Russian dictator in Moscow a signal that the Ukrainian president is ready for a summit-level meeting to end the war.

At the same time, Putin stated yesterday that he is ready to hold a meeting with Zelenskyy not only in Moscow but also on the territory of a third country. He named the signing of a final agreement as the main condition.
