“Auchan” is closing its hypermarket: what will happen to the employees, and why is the store shutting down?
21 May 21:54
The Auchan store in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, located at 4 Velyka Kiltseva Street, is closing due to the expiration of its 16-year lease agreement.
This was reported by the Retailers Association of Ukraine (RAU), according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the association, the lease agreement had been extended four times, but further extension was not possible due to the failure to reach mutually acceptable terms of cooperation.
Auchan Ukraine has assured that all employee jobs will be preserved. Employees were given the opportunity to choose jobs at other stores in the chain.
Currently, Auchan Ukraine has 28 operating stores, including 15 hypermarkets, 3 supermarkets, and 10 Ultra Proxy stores.
Challenges Amid Air Raid Alerts
Marta Trush, CEO of Auchan Ukraine, told RAU in March 2026 that in 2025, the company experienced 4,000 hours of downtime due to air raid alerts.
The closure of the Auchan store is part of broader changes in the retail market in Ukraine.
