U.S. automaker Ford Motor is recalling 741,195 thousand vehicles in the United States due to a transmission system defect that could damage the parking assembly, potentially causing the vehicle to move on its own, according to a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Interfax-Ukraine.
The recall affects 2018–2021 Expedition and Navigator SUVs, 2020–2021 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models, as well as 2021 F-150 pickup trucks.
Dealerships will update the software in the recalled vehicles, inspect them, and replace any damaged transmission system components free of charge, the regulator noted.
The NHTSA also announced a separate recall of 36,046 Bronco vehicles due to improperly secured wheel arch extensions, which could cause these parts to detach, creating a hazardous situation on the road and increasing the risk of an accident.
