Due to damage to Crimea’s power grid: Occupiers in Alushta announced a schedule of “2 hours with power, 10 without”

13 July 05:17

The occupation “head of administration” of Alushta recorded an appeal to residents. She reported serious damage to the peninsula’s power grid and urged residents to prepare for 10-hour power outages—to charge their devices and stock up on water for domestic use. Electricity in the occupied city will be supplied for only 2 hours. This was announced by the occupying official Galina Ognyova on July 12, according to "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Suspilne.

“Starting at 12:15 p.m., power will be supplied for 2 hours so that you can take care of meal preparations, especially those in homes with electric stoves. I ask you to listen to me very carefully. Please stock up on water for household use. We’ve been allocated additional megawatts so that we can supply the city with electricity. But this is temporary and comes at the expense of other regions. It’s no secret—you know that all of Crimea is in this situation today. It’s not just Alushta and Yalta; it’s Simferopol as well. As for the northern part—it has always been in a difficult situation. Now it has affected us as well. According to “Krymenergo,” the schedule is expected to be as follows: “Electricity will be available for 2 hours, then there will be no power for 10 hours,” she said.

The official assures that mobile service will be available, but with interruptions.

“Charge your phones. Everyone is working to recharge the batteries of the high-altitude communication systems on all our towers so that, even without power, we can at least—well, maybe not have a connection every second—but still have a connection after a few calls. Please, don’t panic; stay calm. All specialists are working to restore the networks. Yes, the damage is serious,” she added.

As a reminder, the occupied cities of Yalta and Sevastopol have switched to energy-saving mode following Ukrainian attacks on energy facilities on the peninsula.

As of the morning of July 12, the following areas remained without power:

  • Dzhankoy and the Dzhankoy district;
  • Yani Kapu;
  • Armiansk;
  • Bilohirsk District;
  • Yevpatoria District.

In addition, additional power restrictions have been imposed in a number of settlements. These include: Simferopol, Yalta, Sudak, Yevpatoria, Saki, and the Simferopol and Bakhchisaray districts.

Meanwhile, Dzhankoy and the Dzhankoy District in occupied Crimea have been without electricity for seven days.

On July 10, Robert Brovdi “Madyar,” commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that five power substations in Crimea had been struck. These include:

  • the 110 kV “Berehove” substation, located in the village of Molochne
  • the 110 kV “Saki” substation
  • 110 kV “Mainaki” substation, Yevpatoria
  • 110 kV “Novoozerna” substation, Medvedeve
  • 35 kV “Medvedeve” substation, in the village of Medvedeve

The Ukrainian military also managed to strike a key point where electricity enters occupied Crimea from Russia via the “Kuban–Crimea” power bridge. This refers to the PP-2 “Crimea” substation, through which electricity from Russia is received via undersea cable lines.
