A fuel crisis has begun in Russia due to attacks on oil refineries; Russian Railways is setting up a special task force

The fuel supply situation in Russia has worsened as a result of Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries. This has led to the creation of a special task force by Russian Railways (RZD) to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel to the regions.
This was reported by The Moscow Times, as cited by "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the publication, the company is actively seeking optimal solutions for receiving cargo in real time.
RZD is actively cooperating with oil companies, paying particular attention to the delivery of jet fuel to airports. The maximum volumes of fuel that the infrastructure can handle are already being accepted for transport. This responsiveness has become a necessity amid a growing shortage.

According to The Bell, restrictions on fuel sales for private vehicles have already been imposed in 53 regions of Russia, as well as in the occupied territories of Ukraine. In 18 regions, sales are limited to no more than 50 liters or one full tank of gasoline. Similar restrictions are in effect in the temporarily occupied Crimea, Sevastopol, the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as in the so-called “DPR” and “LPR.”
“A fuel crisis continues to escalate in Russia as a result of Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries,” writes The Moscow Times.
Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine has carried out more than 20 strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, which has already cost Russia more than $7 billion.
Crude oil production fell by approximately 5% in May compared to the same period in 2025.
