Luch Design Bureau and European giant MBDA Join Forces: What We Know

European missile manufacturer MBDA and the Ukrainian design bureau “Luch” have signed a memorandum of understanding, marking a new stage in the development of the “Neptune” cruise missile and the creation of its new version, “Neptune-2.”

This is stated in a press release on the MBDA website, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

The MBDA website states that the company has signed a memorandum with “Luch” that provides for further cooperation in the field of long-range weapons. This partnership underscores MBDA’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and demonstrates both parties’ intention to develop cutting-edge technologies in the defense sector.

Both companies intend to deepen their strategic defense cooperation by leveraging their unique knowledge and experience. As a European leader in advanced missile systems, MBDA provides the technologies, expertise, and international partnerships necessary to create European long-range strike systems.

Luch Design Bureau has extensive experience in the design, development, integration, and production of advanced weapons systems. This specialized knowledge is key to the successful development of the new version of the Neptune missile.

The memorandum was signed at the Eurosatory 2026 international defense exhibition in Paris.

As previously reported, MBDA also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ukrainian company “Ukrainian Armored Vehicles.” This memorandum concerns a strategic partnership to develop capabilities in the areas of long-range strikes and countering unmanned aerial vehicles, further expanding the horizons of international cooperation in the defense sector.
