Dligach warned of the risk of losing the country due to paternalism

Ukraine risks facing a deep crisis if society continues to expect the government to solve all its problems.

This view was expressed on the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian" by Andriy Dligach, a professor and head of the Center for Social Change and Behavioral Economics.

According to him, the number of people willing to take responsibility and initiate change has significantly decreased in recent years.

“75% of Ukrainians are paternalists. The status quo is catastrophic. Degradation, in addition to depopulation. We will truly lose our country,” Dligach warned.

The expert believes that Ukraine needs a society of responsible people and a state that creates opportunities for development.

“We need to break away from paternalism,” he concluded.

Note:

Paternalism is a term used to describe a system of political and social relations between people, where some assume the role of senior, authoritative guardians, while others assume the role of those under their care.

The term “paternalism” derives from the Latin “paternus,” which literally translates to “fatherly.”
