The dollar is rising, the euro is hitting record highs: exchange rates as of April 22

The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official exchange rates for April 22, 2026. The U.S. dollar and the euro have risen in value again, with the euro reaching a new all-time high. The Polish zloty has also risen. The official data was released by the NBU, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
What is the dollar exchange rate on April 22?
The official US dollar exchange rate for April 22 is set at 44.1160 UAH per dollar.
For comparison, on April 21, the rate was 44.1004 UAH, meaning the dollar gained 0.0156 UAH, or approximately 1.6 kopecks.
What is the euro exchange rate on April 22
The NBU set the official euro exchange rate for April 22 at 51.9113 UAH per 1 euro. A day earlier, on April 21, the euro was worth 51.8929 UAH, so the increase was 0.0184 UAH, or about 1.8 kopecks.
The rate of 51.9113 UAH/euro became a new all-time high for the official euro exchange rate in Ukraine, as the NBU’s previous record for April 21, 2026, was 51.8929 UAH/euro.
What is the zloty exchange rate as of April 22
The official exchange rate of the Polish zloty on April 22 was set at 12.2691 UAH per 1 zloty. This also indicates a slight strengthening of the Polish currency against the hryvnia.
What happened on the interbank market and at exchange offices
On Ukraine’s interbank foreign exchange market, by 4:00 PM, the hryvnia’s exchange rate against the dollar stood at 44.08/44.13 UAH per dollar, and against the euro at 51.88/51.93 UAH per euro.
On average, exchange rates at currency exchange offices were as follows:
- USD — 43.75 UAH buy / 43.90 UAH sell;
- EUR — 51.60 UAH buy / 51.85 UAH sell;
- PLN — 12.01 UAH buy / 12.20 UAH sell.
Thus, in the cash segment, the dollar, euro, and zloty traded slightly below the NBU’s official rates, while the interbank market remained close to them.
What’s happening in the currency market
The NBU’s official exchange rates as of April 22 indicate a further weakening of the hryvnia against major currencies. At the same time, this decline is not sharp but moderate: the dollar and euro rose by less than 2 kopecks, and the zloty also changed only slightly.
