Why exchange rates matter to Ukrainians

Changes in the dollar and euro exchange rates affect more than just currency exchange offices or banking transactions. Currency fluctuations can impact the prices of imported goods, fuel, appliances, cars, medicines, travel abroad, and the cost of goods that depend on foreign procurement.

The NBU’s official exchange rate is also used for accounting calculations, customs payments, financial reporting, and the revaluation of foreign exchange transactions. At the same time, the cash exchange rate at banks and currency exchange offices may differ from the official rate.
