The dollar surged after the weekend: exchange rates as of May 18

The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official exchange rates for Monday, May 18. Following the weekend, the hryvnia weakened against the U.S. dollar: the U.S. currency rose by 12 kopecks and exceeded the 44 hryvnia mark. At the same time, the euro and the Polish zloty fell in value. This was reported on the NBU website, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Dollar exchange rate as of May 18

The official US dollar exchange rate for Monday is set at:

  • 1 US dollar — 44.07 UAH

Compared to the previous banking day, the dollar rose by 12 kopecks.

Euro exchange rate as of May 18

The European currency, on the other hand, has fallen in value. The official euro exchange rate is:

  • 1 euro — 51.26 UAH

The euro lost 17 kopecks.

Zloty exchange rate as of May 18

The Polish zloty also fell in value. The National Bank set the following exchange rate:

  • 1 Polish zloty — 12.07 UAH

The zloty fell by 6 kopecks.

What’s happening with the hryvnia

After the weekend, the hryvnia weakened against the dollar. The U.S. currency crossed the psychological threshold of 44 UAH and rose to 44.07 UAH.

At the same time, the euro and the zloty showed the opposite trend. The European currency fell by 17 kopecks at once, while the Polish zloty fell by 6 kopecks.
