Drones struck Russia’s logistics infrastructure: Wildberries warehouses are on fire

On the night of Tuesday, July 22, major logistics centers belonging to the Wildberries marketplace caught fire in two regions of Russia at the same time. The fires were reported in Krasnodar and Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol Krai following a massive drone attack.

A large Wildberries logistics center is on fire in Krasnodar
A massive fire broke out in a suburb of Krasnodar following a series of explosions. According to local residents, between 20 and 30 explosions were heard in the area overnight.
One of Wildberries’ largest logistics hubs in Russia was hit. Footage posted on social media shows a massive blaze and a huge plume of smoke rising above the industrial zone.

Russian media are also reporting drone strikes in the Krasnodar and Stavropol regions.
A second Wildberries warehouse caught fire in Nevinnomyssk
Subsequently, reports of a fire came in from Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol Krai. There, a large Wildberries warehouse complex also caught fire following a drone attack.
Firefighters and emergency services were on the scene.
Wildberries stated that employees of the logistics center were evacuated for safety reasons. Details regarding the area affected by the fire, the extent of the damage, and the condition of the goods in the warehouse are still being determined.

Drones Attacked an Oil Depot in Armavir
Explosions were also heard in Armavir, Krasnodar Krai, on the night of July 22.
According to Russian media reports, drones attacked a local oil depot, after which a fire broke out at the facility.
Thus, during a single nighttime attack, fires were reported in at least three Russian cities:
- Krasnodar;
- Nevinnomyssk;
- Armavir.
Wildberries warehouses have already been targeted
These are not the first strikes against the Russian marketplace’s logistics infrastructure.
Previously, drones attacked Wildberries facilities in Kotovsk, Tambov Oblast, and Elektrostal, near Moscow. Following the fires, the company temporarily removed from sale goods that had been stored in the damaged warehouses.
Also, in the Moscow region, the Wildberries logistics complex in Koledino was evacuated due to the threat of a new drone attack.
Why Logistics Centers Are So Important
Large logistics hubs handle the receipt, sorting, storage, and shipment of goods to dozens of Russian regions.
Damage to such facilities can affect:
- order delivery times;
- the availability of certain goods;
- the operations of marketplace sellers;
- transportation and warehouse logistics;
- the company’s financial costs for infrastructure restoration.
The final extent of the damage to the warehouses in Krasnodar and Nevinnomyssk has not yet been disclosed.
Ukrainian drone strikes on Wildberries’ largest logistics centers have already cost Russia more than 180 billion rubles ($2.3 billion) and could trigger major problems in the supply and trade systems and accelerate inflation, reports The Moscow Times.
It is noted that the fires at Wildberries’ logistics hubs in the Moscow region and Tambov Oblast could rank among the most costly economic losses in terms of scale among attacks on Russian infrastructure. According to preliminary estimates, the total damage has already exceeded $2.3 billion.
This includes not only the completely destroyed warehouse complexes with a total area of about 350,000 square meters, but also the millions of goods stored inside. Russian analysts estimate the value of the lost inventory at 150–230 billion rubles ($1.91–$2.93 billion), while the logistics centers themselves were worth another 30 billion rubles ($383.16 million).
The situation is complicated by the fact that shortly before the incident, Wildberries changed the terms of its cooperation with sellers. Under the updated terms, the company absolved itself of liability for the loss of goods resulting from attacks by drones, missiles, and other munitions, classifying such incidents as force majeure.
Economists warn that if attacks on Russia’s major logistics centers become systematic, businesses will be forced to spend more on security, backup warehouses, and logistics restructuring. Ultimately, this could lead to higher prices for goods and increased inflationary pressure on the Russian economy.
