A new wave of bad weather is set to hit Ukraine: where heavy rain, hail, and squalls are forecast

After several days of summer heat, cool air from the Atlantic is moving into Ukraine. As early as July 22–24, temperatures will drop in most regions, and in some areas, forecasters are predicting thunderstorms, heavy downpours, hail, and squalls.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, forecaster Natalka Didenko, and meteorologist Vitaliy Postrygan, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
A cold snap is set to hit Ukraine
According to forecasters, atmospheric circulation will change, and cool air of Atlantic origin will begin to flow into Ukraine.
In most regions, daytime temperatures will range from 21 to 26 degrees, while nighttime temperatures will drop to 10 to 15 degrees.
The most noticeable drop in temperature is expected in the northern and western regions.
Where will it be the coolest?
According to Natalka Didenko, the lowest daytime temperatures are expected in:
- Volyn Oblast;
- Rivne Oblast;
- Zhytomyr Oblast;
- Chernihiv Oblast.
Here, the air will warm up to only 19…22 degrees.
In the central regions, temperatures are forecast to reach 22…25 degrees.
In the south and east, the heat will linger
Despite the general cooling trend, the summer heat will persist in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine.
It will be warmest in:
- Kherson Oblast;
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast;
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast;
- Donetsk Oblast;
- Luhansk Oblast;
- the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Temperatures are expected to reach 26–31 degrees during the day.
Where thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail are forecast
According to meteorologists, localized rain showers with thunderstorms are possible:
- in the Odesa region;
- in the Mykolaiv region;
- in some parts of the Cherkasy region;
- in Zakarpattia.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns that the Odesa region in particular may be affected by the most dangerous weather phenomena.
The forecast for this region includes:
- heavy downpours;
- thunderstorms;
- hail;
- strong wind gusts.
Residents of the region are advised to closely monitor official warnings about hazardous weather conditions.
What Will the Weather Be Like in the Coming Days?
Meteorologist Vitaliy Postrygan notes that the cool air mass will persist at least until July 24.
According to him, daytime temperatures in most regions will remain comfortable—ranging from 21 to 26 degrees—while nighttime temperatures will fluctuate between 11 and 16 degrees.
At the same time, warmer weather will persist in the south and east of the country.
