The government has announced an increase in the compensation fund for farmers for de-mining from UAH 2 billion to UAH 3 billion. Compensation will cover 80% of the cost of demining.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal at a government meeting, Kommersant ukrainskyi
reports.
“Now we will have another important tool – compensation to farmers for the purchase of demining services. At first, we talked about UAH 2 billion for this programme, but we managed to increase it. Now, the state budget provides for UAH 3 billion,” said Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Prime Minister, 80% of the cost of demining will be compensated. Services will be procured through Prozorro, which will minimise corruption risks and create competition in the humanitarian demining market.
“We expect the first such procurement to take place in May-June this year,” Shmyhal said.
Earlier, the State Emergency Service named the most mined regions of Ukraine, namely: Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions.
