Gryshina: Restricting access to schools is a common practice in Europe

Ukrainian MP Yulia Grishina stated that the introduction of school access rules restricting the presence of unauthorized persons during school hours is in line with the practices of most European countries. She made these remarks in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian"

“Let me give you an example. I am the co-chair of the Verkhovna Rada’s parliamentary group on interparliamentary relations with Hungary. I visit there very often. In Hungary, parents are not allowed to enter schools. So when the final bell rings, all the parents wait for their children on the street,” the MP said.

She noted that in April 2026, standard rules for access to and presence in schools went into effect. The document required every educational institution to develop its own access rules, defined the procedures for the presence of participants in the educational process and outsiders, and introduced additional safety requirements for students and staff.

“This is a closed educational environment where children are supposed to learn. They come there, put their smartphones aside, study, and socialize… It’s a world of its own, where they go for the purpose of learning,” Grishina believes.
