The hryvnia strengthened ahead of the weekend: how much are the dollar, euro, and zloty worth?

The National Bank has strengthened the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against the dollar, the euro, and the zloty. However, it is not possible to purchase foreign currency at the NBU’s exchange rate: at bank teller windows, the dollar is selling for approximately 44.90 UAH, and the euro for up to 51.95 UAH. The exchange rates as of August 14 have been published on the National Bank’s website, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rate for the dollar on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 44.6988 UAH. Compared to the previous banking day, the U.S. dollar depreciated by approximately 1.4 kopecks.
Official exchange rates as of August 14
For Friday, the NBU set the following exchange rates:
- 1 U.S. dollar — 44.6988 UAH;
- 1 euro — 51.5543 UAH;
- 1 Polish zloty — 11.9759 UAH;
- 1 British pound — 60.3076 UAH;
- 1 Swiss franc — 55.011 UAH;
- 1 Canadian dollar — 32.053 UAH.
For comparison, on August 13, the dollar was worth 44.7128 UAH, the euro — 51.6191 UAH, and the zloty — 11.9924 UAH.
Thus, over the past 24 hours:
- the dollar fell by 1.40 kopecks;
- the euro fell by 6.48 kopecks;
- the zloty fell by 1.65 kopecks.
If we round the exchange rates to two decimal places, the dollar is worth 44.70 UAH, the euro is worth 51.55 UAH, and the zloty is worth 11.98 UAH.

How much is the dollar worth at banks?
The NBU’s official exchange rate is not a mandatory price at which banks must buy or sell cash currency. Financial institutions set their own exchange rates and factor in a spread.
For example, as of the morning of August 14, Credit Agricole set the following cash exchange rates:
- dollar — 44.44 UAH for buying and 44.91 UAH for selling;
- euro — 51.34/51.84 UAH;
- Polish zloty — 11.80/12.10 UAH.
At PrivatBank, the cash rates were:
- U.S. dollar — 44.30/44.90 UAH;
- Euro — 50.95/51.95 UAH;
- Polish zloty — 11.50/12.20 UAH.
Rates may vary by branch. Banks also set separate rates for card transactions and currency purchases via mobile apps.
