The Irish government is developing a new support scheme for Ukrainian refugees returning to their homeland. It is expected that they will receive the main financial assistance after they have finally left for Ukraine, according to The Sunday Times website, citing an internal document outlining the key points of the program regarding the return of Ukrainians and the termination of major forms of support, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
The program will begin after the EU Temporary Protection Directive expires
The new program for voluntary return to Ukraine is designed for a “limited and fixed period” and is expected to begin after the expiration of the EU directive on temporary protection.

In addition, the launch of this program depends on the start of Ukraine’s recovery following the full-scale Russian invasion, the newspaper notes. Ukrainians will be offered the opportunity to return home only once certain security conditions are met, including the commencement of reconstruction efforts in Ukraine, the report adds.
The main focus is on Ukraine’s reintegration and recovery
The new support package for Ukrainians will include assistance to partially cover the costs of returning to Ukraine. But the main support will be directed toward reintegration and rebuilding life in Ukraine.
In addition, Ireland is interested in participating in an EU pilot program for the return of Ukrainians, which will precede a full-scale voluntary return program, a government source told The Times.
An Irish government memo also outlines key points regarding the phasing out of support measures for Ukrainian refugees. Specifically, as early as October, the monthly housing allowance in Ireland will be reduced from 600 to 400 euros.
