Freshly harvested cabbage continues to get cheaper in Ukraine: what’s behind the trend

Prices for fresh cabbage continue to fall sharply in Ukraine, according to analysts at the EastFruit project, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
As before, industry experts attribute the downward price trend in this segment to a seasonal increase in the supply of these vegetables from local farms. At the same time, sales in this market segment remain fairly subdued.

According to experts, there are several reasons for the decline in prices for this product. First, following a period of heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, the weather has stabilized across virtually the entire country, leading to an increase in the supply of 2026 harvest cabbage on the domestic market. Second, the quality of this product does not always satisfy the end consumer, which also contributes to lower prices in this segment.
As a result, as of today, most producers are offering new-crop cabbage for sale at 11–18 UAH/kg ($0.25–0.41/kg), which is on average 22% cheaper than a week earlier.
It is worth noting that new-crop cabbage is currently being sold on the Ukrainian market at an average price 16% lower than in early June 2025.
