The debris fell onto the roof of a residential building

According to preliminary information, the drone debris fell onto the roof of a 20-story residential building in the Obolon district of Kyiv.

At the time of the initial reports, there were no reports of casualties. Relevant services were verifying information about possible damage.

Social media also reported on air defense operations over the capital. During such attacks, authorities traditionally urge people not to film or publish footage of air defense operations, drone routes, or potential impact sites until official reports are released.

Kyiv residents were urged to remain in shelters

During the attack, city authorities urged residents of the capital not to ignore the air raid siren and to remain in shelters until the official all-clear.

Particularly dangerous during attacks are not only direct hits but also falling debris from downed drones. They can damage roofs, windows, cars, and building facades, and pose a threat to people on the street.

Russian attacks after the “ceasefire”

The nighttime attack on Kyiv took place after the end of the declared three-day “ceasefire” on May 9–11. Ukrainian authorities had previously stated that there was no complete silence on the front lines during this period, and that Russia continued combat operations and shelling.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned the day before that Ukraine was preparing for new attacks by Russia, as Moscow shows no intention of ending the war.
