For the first time in Ukraine’s history, more than 8.3 million USDT—equivalent to over 372 million UAH—has been transferred to the crypto wallet of the National Agency of Ukraine for the Identification, Tracing, and Management of Assets (ARMA). This is the first instance in which seized crypto assets have actually been transferred to state custody, according to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
“These are digital assets that were held in crypto wallets controlled by a member of an international hacker group. According to the investigation, the fraudsters carried out cyberattacks against citizens and companies in European countries and the U.S., stole confidential information, demanded ransoms, and laundered the proceeds in Ukraine through the purchase of real estate, cars, and other high-value property,” he wrote.
According to him, the estimated losses resulting from the group’s activities exceed 100 million U.S. dollars.
Kravchenko reported that four members of the group, including the organizer, were detained as part of the investigation. All are currently in custody.
“Assets worth over $11.1 million have been seized: residential buildings, apartments, cars, $1 million in cash, and virtual assets worth over $8.3 million. Modern crime has long since moved into the digital realm. And investigations into cybercrimes have long extended beyond Ukraine’s borders,” the Prosecutor General added.
