Maersk has launched a new logistics corridor between Ukraine and the EU

Maersk, a global container shipping operator, is launching a temporary rail service between the Romanian port of Constanța and Ukrainian logistics terminals. This decision was made due to the difficult security situation in the ports of the Odesa region following intensified Russian attacks on port infrastructure.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a statement from the company.
Maersk is changing its logistics routes due to the situation in the Black Sea
The new rail route will serve both import and export container shipments.
The logistics scheme will cover three Ukrainian terminals:
- Kyiv;
- Odesa;
- Ternopil.
The main entry and exit point for cargo will be the Romanian port of Constanta, which will temporarily serve as a transshipment hub for the company’s Ukrainian clients.
The service will operate until October
Maersk emphasized that the decision is temporary.
The rail service is tentatively scheduled to operate until October 1, 2026, or until the security situation at Ukrainian seaports stabilizes.
The company notes that the route will ensure the continuity of international shipments, despite the risks to shipping in the Black Sea.

Why Maersk Is Changing Its Route
Maersk had previously announced a temporary suspension of operations through the Black Sea fishing port.
Due to the deteriorating security situation, the company began redirecting import containers that were supposed to arrive in Chornomorsk to Constanta.
The launch of a dedicated rail service was a logical next step following these changes and should help minimize delivery delays.
Russian attacks are disrupting Ukraine’s logistics
In recent weeks, Russia has significantly intensified its strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure and logistics facilities.
As a result, international carriers are forced to quickly revise their delivery routes, while Ukrainian businesses must seek alternative logistics solutions to maintain exports and imports.
The launch of a new rail service between Constanta and Ukraine is intended to be one of the mechanisms for maintaining stable supply chains until the situation at the Black Sea ports returns to normal.
