Millions of dollars in damages: Russia destroyed a UNICEF warehouse in the Kyiv region

A Russian attack on the Kyiv region destroyed a humanitarian warehouse used by UNICEF to provide aid to children and families affected by the war. At the time of the strike, the warehouse contained more than 106,000 units of humanitarian aid with a total value of approximately $3.9 million. This is stated in a UNICEF press release, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Russia damaged a UNICEF warehouse in Bilohorodka
According to the organization, on July 19, a warehouse in Bilohorodka, Kyiv Oblast—which UNICEF used to store humanitarian aid—was severely damaged as a result of an attack by Russian forces.
The strike destroyed supplies intended for children and families affected by the war.
Experts are currently continuing to assess the full extent of the damage.
What Humanitarian Aid Did UNICEF Lose?
At the time of the attack, there were more than 106,000 units of humanitarian supplies in the warehouse.
Among the destroyed items were:
- generators;
- drinking water supplies;
- hygiene kits;
- water storage tanks.
UNICEF emphasized that these resources were critical to the organization’s humanitarian programs in Ukraine, particularly for supporting children and families in frontline regions, as well as for preparing for the upcoming heating season.

UNICEF Warns of Threats to Humanitarian Aid
The organization noted that ongoing attacks are hindering the delivery of aid to those who need it most.
The statement notes that damage to humanitarian warehouses and attacks on humanitarian infrastructure are hindering the delivery of vital support to children and families affected by the war.
UNICEF called for an end to strikes on civilian and humanitarian infrastructure, emphasizing that children and humanitarian facilities must be protected under international humanitarian law.
June was the deadliest month for children since 2022
In the same statement, UNICEF reported that in the past week alone, two children were killed in Ukraine, and at least 50 more were injured.
In addition, June 2026 saw the highest number of child casualties since the start of the full-scale war in 2022: seven children were killed and another 116 were injured.
This is not the first strike on humanitarian warehouses
Recently, Russian attacks have repeatedly caused damage to humanitarian infrastructure.
Specifically:
- On July 20, it was reported that a warehouse containing HIV prevention supplies worth over $2.6 million had been destroyed;
- On July 2, a humanitarian warehouse belonging to the Ukrainian Red Cross was completely destroyed in an attack; it had stored approximately 320,000 units of humanitarian aid and equipment with a total value of over 79 million hryvnias.
International humanitarian organizations emphasize that such strikes significantly complicate the delivery of aid to the civilian population, especially residents of frontline areas.
