The Ministry of Digital Transformation and the World Bank are strengthening their cooperation: what’s in focus

30 April 19:52

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the World Bank have decided to strengthen their strategic partnership. The main goal of this collaboration is to develop telecommunications, artificial intelligence, and open access to the “Diia” code.

This was reported by the ministry’s press service on Telegram, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“The World Bank is our strategic partner, helping to digitize services and bring Ukrainian innovations to the global stage,” the statement reads.

One of the main areas of cooperation is support for the project to open-source the “Dii” code. This will allow other countries to safely and easily create their own government services based on Ukraine’s experience.

Under the Tallinn Mechanism, the World Bank is helping to create a tool that will allow donors to transparently and quickly transfer funds to protect Ukrainian systems from cyberattacks. This will ensure a high level of cybersecurity in the face of modern threats.

Long-term projects

Cooperation also covers long-term projects, such as the development of a backbone connectivity concept that will connect Europe and Asia via the Black Sea and Ukraine.

In addition, Ukraine aims to transition to a model of an agentive state, where artificial intelligence will proactively provide services.

The World Bank supports this vision as part of the national Digital Agenda 2030 strategy.

Work is nearing completion on the Ukraine Case Study— a large-scale study on how Ukraine built a digital state almost from scratch. This study will help better understand the successes and challenges on the path to digitalization.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation has already completed five projects on the cybersecurity of state digital systems, which were funded by Canada under the Tallinn Mechanism.
