15 June 21:53
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an important conversation with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The meeting took place at Chisinau Airport during his trip to the G7 summit.
The head of state announced this on Telegram, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
During the conversation, Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to the patriarch for his constant support of the Ukrainian people. The president emphasized the importance of the patriarch’s moral stance, particularly in the context of Russian drone strikes on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which he called “barbarism for which there is no justification.” This is a holy site not only for Ukraine but for the Orthodox world as a whole.

Invitation to Ukraine
In addition to his words of gratitude, President Zelenskyy invited His Holiness to visit Ukraine.
He expressed gratitude for the prayers for Ukraine and Ukrainians, which provide vital moral support during these difficult times.
During the conversation, the parties discussed possible formats for future in-person meetings, which indicates a readiness for further interaction and cooperation between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
As reported, as a result of a massive Russian attack on June 15, UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as monuments of national significance in several Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro, were damaged. President Zelenskyy assured that all damaged sites will be restored.
UNESCO’s Response
The National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO strongly condemned yet another Russian strike that damaged the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
This incident once again underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage even in times of conflict.
