Rubio announced U.S. plans to resume dialogue between Russia and Ukraine

Washington intends to make efforts in the near future to resume peace talks between Ukraine and Russia to end the war, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with Fox News. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing DW.
“In the next few weeks, you will see efforts aimed at determining whether we can resume negotiations between the two sides,” he said. “But we also understand that both sides have quite serious red lines, and until we bridge those lines, we won’t achieve anything,” the secretary of state acknowledged.
Zelenskyy Advocates for a Ceasefire
During his visit to the U.S. in late July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv continues to seek a ceasefire that could serve as the basis for a future peace agreement, but Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “is not interested in any form of dialogue.”
“Every day we ask for this war to stop… to agree to a ceasefire for a while and give diplomats a chance to negotiate. But Putin doesn’t want that. So that’s his problem,” the Ukrainian president said.
In another interview, Zelenskyy emphasized that stopping the war and achieving a ceasefire “is better than fighting for 10 to 20 years for victory and losing our people.” “A ceasefire is the best alternative,” the president said.
The most recent U.S.-mediated talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Geneva on February 17 and 18. Another round was scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in early March, but the meeting did not take place due to the start of U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.
