Sukhomlyn, Head of the State Agency for Reconstruction, Has Resigned: Who Might Replace Him?

Serhiy Sukhomlyn, head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine, announced his decision to step down. Sukhomlyn made this announcement to the publication NV Business, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to him, on Wednesday, July 29, he submitted his resignation of his own accord. The Cabinet of Ministers must now approve his resignation.

Sukhomlyn added that he spent several hours with one of the leading candidates for the agency’s top position—Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko—to brief him on the agency’s affairs. He also stated his willingness to remain as an advisor, if necessary, to help the new head get up to speed on all of the agency’s current projects more quickly.

Sukhomlyn explained that, overall, he had intended to serve in public office for about 10 years—including his term as mayor of Zhytomyr—and then return to the business world. However, his work at the agency has delayed his return somewhat. Sukhomlyn is currently considering management positions in the construction sector, particularly in joint projects between Ukrainian and European companies.

The agency is currently implementing a number of projects, including the construction of protective structures for high-voltage transformers and the creation of an alternative heat supply network in the TPP-4 zone.
