Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan announced the government’s resignation

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has resigned along with his government in connection with the start of the first session of the newly elected parliament—the National Assembly. RBC-Ukraine reported this, citing a statement by Pashinyan, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Pashinyan announced the start of the 9th convocation of the National Assembly of Armenia, which, according to the country’s Constitution, requires the government to resign.

The prime minister said he is preparing to sign the corresponding statement and submit it to the country’s president.
According to procedure, after the government’s resignation is accepted, the head of state must appoint a new prime minister, whose candidacy will be nominated by the parliamentary majority. This is expected to take place today, August 2.
Since the “Civic Contract” party of Armenia’s current prime minister won the parliamentary elections on June 7 and secured a majority in the National Assembly, Pashinyan will most likely head the government again.
As a reminder, parliamentary elections were held in Armenia in June of this year. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s party defeated the opposition by a wide margin. However, the opposition did not recognize the results.
