The new 100-hryvnia note with a patriotic theme: what will change in Ukrainians’ wallets starting June 16

15 June 20:46

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced plans to put modified 100-hryvnia banknotes into circulation starting June 16, 2026, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

These banknotes will feature the patriotic slogan “GLORY TO UKRAINE! GLORY TO THE HEROES!” on their reverse side, emphasizing national identity and pride.

Design and Security

In addition to the patriotic slogan, the new banknotes retain all other design and security features characteristic of the 2014 model 100-hryvnia banknotes. This means that citizens can be confident in their security and reliability as a means of payment.

Starting June 16, 2026, the new banknotes will be available to Ukrainian banks, cash-in-transit companies, and cash-handling companies. This will ensure a smooth transition and integration of the new banknotes into circulation.

The introduction of the modified 100-hryvnia banknotes will mark the final stage in the process of modifying the entire series of national currency banknotes, which the NBU began in August 2024. This process was timed to coincide with the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

Old banknotes remain in circulation

Citizens do not need to specifically exchange old 100-hryvnia banknotes for new ones. Banknotes from previous years of production will continue to remain in circulation as legal tender.

Earlier, starting August 8, 2024, the NBU had already put into circulation modified 500- and 1,000-hryvnia banknotes, which also feature the slogan “GLORY TO UKRAINE! GLORY TO THE HEROES!” Subsequently, 50-hryvnia banknotes were introduced on August 23, 2024; 20-hryvnia banknotes on August 21, 2025; and 200-hryvnia banknotes on February 25, 2026.
