on 24 August, former Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan, who is currently fighting at the front as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was wounded. In his post on social media, Omelyan shared details of what happened and expressed confidence in Ukraine’s victory, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“Ukraine is not letting go… On 24 August, the enemy attacked our battalion’s position with two KABs. This time I was lucky: a broken bone, more than 10 fragments in my body, but I am alive,” Omelyan wrote.

He also humorously noted that he will now have two birthdays a year: “from his parents and from Ukraine.”

He has a long treatment and rehabilitation ahead of him, but the former minister remains optimistic and determined to continue his fight.

Omelyan appealed to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling for more former ministers to join the Armed Forces:

“Volodymyr Oleksandrovych, Poroshenko’s ministers in the Armed Forces are already running out. Prepare a landing party in the Armed Forces from your former ministers. At least one at a time to the brigade headquarters. Although it would be possible to form an assault regiment out of them.”

The former minister also stressed the importance of supplying the necessary equipment and machinery for the frontline:

“Drones, REBs, vehicles will not appear by themselves, someone still needs to get them, and we have to wait for the unknown for a long time. We know they can and do come from somewhere… It’s a bit dangerous, of course, but they are risky, we know that too. At least they will be useful in the war.”

Despite his injuries, Volodymyr Omelyan remains determined to win and supports the morale of his comrades: “Let’s keep the line! Everything will be Ukraine!”

MP Iryna Gerashchenko said that Omelyan was wounded in the Kupyansk sector.

She clarified that the former minister has already undergone surgery and is in a satisfactory condition.

“The former Minister of Transport has been in the terrorist defence forces since the first days of the great war. Volodymyr has already undergone surgery after being wounded. He says his condition is satisfactory. I wish you a speedy recovery, my friend!” Gerashchenko added.
