Oil prices are rising on Tuesday, August 4, following a decline at the close of the first trading session, triggered by signs of de-escalation in the Middle East conflict, reports "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Interfax-Ukraine.
October Brent crude futures on the London-based ICE Futures exchange were trading at $85.02 per barrel, up $1.25 (1.49%) from the previous session’s close. On Monday, they fell by $6.35 (7%) to $83.77 per barrel.
September WTI crude oil futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) electronic trading platform rose by $0.9 (1.12%) to $81.24 per barrel. At the close of the previous session, their price had fallen by $4.33 (5.1%) to $80.34 per barrel.
The day before, Brent hit its lowest level since July 13 after U.S. President Donald Trump announced his decision not to carry out the planned massive strikes against Iran in an effort to achieve the goal through peaceful means. According to Trump, Tehran itself “and other Middle Eastern countries” asked him to hold off on strikes against Iran.
He also said that the U.S. could resume strikes against Iran at any moment if the need arises.
