Electricity consumption has risen in Ukraine: five regions were left without power following the shelling

On the morning of August 4, new power outages were reported in five regions of Ukraine due to Russian shelling. At the same time, electricity consumption continues to rise due to the hot weather, so energy officials are urging Ukrainians to use high-power electrical appliances during the daytime.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing NEC “Ukrenergo.”
In which regions were new power outages recorded?
According to Ukrenergo, as of the morning of August 4, new power outages caused by Russian attacks occurred in:
- Sumy Oblast;
- Kharkiv Oblast;
- Donetsk Oblast;
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast;
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
Energy officials note that emergency repair work is already underway in all areas where the security situation permits.
“Utility workers are doing everything possible to restore equipment damaged by the enemy as quickly as possible,” the company emphasized.

Electricity consumption continues to rise
In addition to the effects of shelling, the power grid is also being impacted by the heat.
According to Ukrenergo, as of 9:30 a.m. on August 4, electricity consumption was 1.9% higher than at the same time the previous day.
The reason is rising air temperatures and heavy use of air conditioners.
At the same time, on August 3, the evening peak consumption exceeded the figure for the last working day of last week (July 31) by as much as 5.6%.
When to Use Electrical Appliances
To reduce the load on the power grid, Ukrainians are advised to:
- shift energy-intensive consumption to the period from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently;
- limit the use of high-power appliances from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., when the load on the grid is highest.
Ukrenergo also reminded the public that the situation in the power grid can change rapidly, so it is important to follow announcements from distribution system operators and local power companies.
