Energy Facilities Attacked in Crimea

According to available information, the target of the nighttime attack was the 220 kV “Bakhchisaray” substation, located in Bakhchisaray. There are also reports that the 10/35/10 kV “Zimino” substation was damaged.

Toward morning, reports began circulating online that the power had gone out in Bakhchysarai.

The materials that have emerged, including images from NASA’s FIRMS thermal anomaly monitoring service, indicate signs of fires in the area of one of the facilities following the strike.

Satellites showed changes on the island

A comparison of satellite images taken in July 2025 and July 2026 was published separately.

They clearly show that the level of nighttime outdoor lighting in occupied Crimea has significantly decreased.

These changes are linked to ongoing strikes on the peninsula’s energy infrastructure.

Over the past year, substations, power supply facilities, and other elements of the energy system have been regularly targeted.

It was previously reported that successive strikes on energy facilities in occupied Crimea have caused a noticeable deterioration in the peninsula’s power grid.
