The new Cabinet of Ministers will be elected today: when the Rada will vote on the prime minister and ministers, and what is known so far

Today, July 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will hold one of the most important personnel sessions of the year. Lawmakers plan to appoint a new prime minister, approve the updated composition of the Cabinet of Ministers, and separately vote on the nominees for defense minister and foreign minister. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Today, the Rada will vote on a new prime minister
According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, parliament will follow the preliminary schedule, which may be subject to change during the session.
The tentative agenda is as follows:
- 9:45 a.m. — Coordination Council;
- 10:00 a.m. — Meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee regarding the candidacy of Serhiy Koretskyi;
- 10:30 a.m. — Verkhovna Rada vote on the appointment of Ukraine’s new prime minister.
The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially submitted a proposal to appoint Serhiy Koretskyi as head of government.
After the prime minister is elected, deputies will vote on the new Cabinet
Immediately after the prime minister is elected, a meeting of the “Servant of the People” faction is scheduled to take place, during which the new head of government will formally receive the nominations for future ministers.
After that, the Verkhovna Rada will proceed to form the new Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the preliminary schedule:
- 1:30 p.m. — vote on the new Cabinet;
- 2:20 p.m. — separate votes on the nominees for Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Who Is in the Running for Key Positions
According to Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the president plans to nominate:
- Andriy Sibiga —as Minister of Foreign Affairs;
- Ihor Klymenko — as Minister of Defense.
Before being brought to the plenary session, both nominations must be reviewed by the relevant parliamentary committees.

Fedorov Confirms Resignation
On the eve ofhis resignation, incumbent Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov confirmed his departure. He summarized his work at the Ministry of Defense, listed his main achievements, and acknowledged that not all reforms had been completed.
Among the projects implemented, he cited the development of unmanned systems, defense procurement reform, the strengthening of air defense, and the scaling up of Ukrainian weapons production.
Is this the final voting schedule?
Yaroslav Zheleznyak himself emphasized that the schedule provided is preliminary.
“It’s a very tentative schedule, because, as always, things can change,” the MP noted.
Therefore, the timing of individual votes may be adjusted depending on the course of the plenary session.
What will happen after the government is formed
If the Verkhovna Rada approves all personnel decisions, Ukraine will have a completely new Cabinet of Ministers.
It is also expected that, once the personnel matters are concluded, deputies will consider the early termination of the parliamentary mandates of People’s Deputies Mykhailo Maslov and Vitalii Bezgin, should they join the new government.
