The Russian ambassador to Albania has been summoned to provide explanations regarding a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine, which struck a residential complex where the Albanian ambassador to Ukraine resides, Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha said. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Albania strongly condemns yet another brutal and indiscriminate large-scale rocket and drone attack carried out last night by Russia against civilian targets in Ukraine, completely disregarding human life and basic human decency. This time, a residential complex where the Albanian ambassador to Ukraine lives was hit, putting his life in serious danger. This is unacceptable!” the minister’s post reads.
He emphasized that attacks on civilian areas or threats to diplomatic personnel constitute a serious escalation and “yet another stark reminder of the human cost of Russia’s prolonged aggression.”
“This war… has gone on for far too long. For over four years since the illegal full-scale invasion, Russia has relentlessly attacked energy infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and homes across Ukraine. Yet it has failed to break the courage, resolve, resilience, and strength of the Ukrainian people,” the foreign minister stated.
The Albanian minister emphasized that “Russia is not winning; it is only killing, destroying, and causing widespread devastation and suffering.” He also reiterated the call for Russia to immediately cease these attacks, end the war against Ukraine, fully comply with international law, and return to negotiations.
“Albania will continue to stand firmly shoulder-to-shoulder with Ukraine and reaffirms its unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. Those responsible for these attacks must be held accountable,” the post reads.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga reported that the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sustained minor damage as a result of nearby explosions. He noted that the unique architectural heritage, built by Joseph Langbard in 1939, has been damaged by hostilities for the first time since World War II.
