Putin announced that the war with Ukraine would end soon: here’s what he said

30 May 09:15

Against the backdrop of significant territorial losses in Ukraine,Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has declared for the second time this month that hostilities will soon come to an end, attributing this to the Russian army’s offensive on the front lines. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Russian propaganda media.

“Regarding my statement that, in my view, the matter is nearing its conclusion. I did not make this statement lightly, but based on an analysis of the situation on the battlefield, where our troops are advancing in all directions—as you can see, every single day,” Putin said.

He made a similar statement on May 10. At that time, Putin also said that the Russian invasion of Ukraine was nearing its end. At the same time, he claimed that the war has been going on for five years because of the “globalist-oriented Western elites,” who are “waging war against Russia through the Ukrainians” and convinced Kyiv not to sign the peace agreement reached, according to Putin, between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul in 2022.

On May 29, Putin also reported that contacts with Ukraine are being maintained, though full-fledged negotiations are not currently taking place. Additionally, he stated that Russia “has never had aggressive intentions” toward European countries. “Statements by European politicians that they are preparing for war with Russia are nonsense,” he said.

Separately, Putin commented on the Western media’s reaction to the strike on a dormitory in Starobilsk.

“These are tools of mass deception, not mass media,” he stated.

According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the strike destroyed the headquarters of the Russian “Rubicon” UAV unit, while the Russian side claims that college students were killed.
