Ukraine’s unmanned aerial vehicle forces announced that they had brought Donetsk Airport under fire control; Russian troops had turned the airport into a military logistics hub and a key launch site for “Shahed”-type attack drones. The First Separate Center of the Special Forces (14th Regiment) reported on the results of the operation, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

The occupiers have turned Donetsk Airport into a military hub

The unit reported that the Russian army used the territory of Donetsk Airport as a key logistics hub and launch site for attack drones.

“The occupiers have turned Donetsk Airport into a military-logistical hub and a key launch site for Shahed attack drones. Our unit is systematically destroying enemy infrastructure, rendering the airfield inoperable,” reads a statement from the First Separate Special Forces Center.

Thus, the objective of the operation was not only to destroy individual targets but to completely eliminate the enemy’s ability to use the airfield as a military platform.

Ukrainian drones are destroying launchers right on the runway

The SBS noted that strike drone operators are targeting critical elements of the enemy’s infrastructure directly within the airfield.

According to military sources, Ukrainian crews are destroying:

  • launchers;
  • transport vehicles;
  • enemy crews directly on the runway.

Separately, the unit reported a systematic hunt for mobile fire groups and enemy air defense systems.

“At the same time, we are systematically targeting the enemy’s mobile fire groups and air defense systems, forcing the enemy to cancel sorties,” the military explained.

The SBS headquarters emphasized that strikes on engineering equipment, fueling stations, and logistics hubs are aimed at completely degrading the enemy’s so-called airfield ecosystem.

Based on the results of its operations, the unit reported the following:

  • “Shahed” launchers eliminated;
  • construction cranes destroyed;
  • enemy vehicles damaged;
  • destroyed supply depots.

In effect, this represents a comprehensive weakening of Russian capabilities in the area of Donetsk Airport.

The operation was described as asymmetric and strategically important

Seraphim “Falco” Gordienko, an officer of the First Separate Center of the Special Forces (SBS) responsible for planning the operation, Gordienko, emphasized that the fire control of the Donetsk Airport, carried out by the 1st Separate Center, is an example of an asymmetric operation in which the enemy’s operational-strategic plans were thwarted by exceptionally small forces.

“Not long ago, the occupiers felt safe there and were planning terrorist attacks on our cities. From now on, we have turned Donetsk Airport into a trap for the enemy. There is no safe rear for the occupiers. It is impossible to hide or take cover,” the statement reads.

This assessment indicates that the Ukrainian side views the operation not as a localized strike, but as part of a broader effort to disrupt Russian logistics and strike capabilities.
