The average salary in Ukraine has risen again: in some places, it’s nearly 50,000, while in others, it’s less than 24,000

The average salary in Ukraine continued to rise in June 2026, reaching 32,783 UAH— a 5.9% increase from May. At the same time, the gap between regions remains significant: while the average salary in Kyiv has already approached 50,000 hryvnias, in some regions it does not even reach 24,000.
This was reported by the State Statistics Service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The average salary in Ukraine has risen to nearly 33,000 hryvnias
According to the State Statistics Service, the average nominal salary for full-time employees in June was 32,783 hryvnias.
Compared to May, the figure increased by 5.9%, indicating that the trend toward a gradual rise in household incomes is continuing.
However, average figures vary significantly depending on the region and economic sector.
Which regions pay the most
Kyiv traditionally remains the clear leader, where the average salary has already exceeded 48,000 hryvnias.
Regions with the highest salaries:
- 48,393 UAH — Kyiv;
- 38,143 UAH — Luhansk Oblast;
- 33,849 UAH — Kyiv Oblast.
The capital’s high figures are due to the concentration of large companies, international businesses, the financial sector, and IT companies.

Where Salaries Remain the Lowest
The lowest average wages were recorded in the western and central regions.
In June, employees in the following regions earned the least:
- Chernivtsi Oblast — 24,472 UAH;
- Kirovohrad Oblast — 23,882 UAH.
Thus, the difference between Kyiv and the region with the lowest wages exceeds 24,000 hryvnias—almost double.
Which professions pay the best
The information and telecommunications sector traditionally offers the highest incomes.
In June, the average salary in this sector was 77,931 UAH, which is more than double the national average.
High-paying professions also include certain roles in the financial sector, IT, telecommunications, and professional services.
The lowest salaries remain in the healthcare and social assistance sectors, where the average income was 22,274 UAH.
Wage arrears remain high
Despite the growth in average incomes, the problem of wage arrears remains a pressing issue.
According to the State Statistics Service, as of July 1, 2026, the total amount of wage arrears stood at 3.8 billion UAH.
This means that an increase in average wages does not always indicate an improvement in the financial situation for all employees.
