A Blow to Manufacturing and Tax Revenue: What Bohodukhiv Will Lose After the Plant Closes

Following yet another attack by Russian drones, the Bohodukhiv Dairy Plant has been forced to completely suspend production. According to the plant’s management, the damage sustained is so severe that it is currently impossible to continue operations. This was reported by the media platform “Zorya,” citing the plant’s director, Dmytro Murashkin, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"
The consequences of the strike may prove to be much more far-reaching than simply a halt in dairy production. The plant was one of the largest taxpayers in the Bohodukhiv community and contributed millions to the local budget.
The plant is suspending operations indefinitely
According to Dmytro Murashkin, director of the Bohodukhiv Dairy Plant, this is not the first time Russian troops have attacked the facility.
However, this time the extent of the damage has become critical.
The plant director noted that the damage to production facilities makes it impossible to continue operations, so the plant is forced to completely halt production.
No timeline for a possible resumption of operations has been announced at this time.
The plant has been in operation for over half a century
The Bohodukhiv Dairy Plant was founded back in 1969.
The plant produced a wide range of dairy products, including:
- ultra-pasteurized milk;
- fermented milk products;
- butter;
- hard, soft, and processed cheeses;
- condensed milk products.
Quality control was ensured by the company’s own chemical and bacteriological laboratories, and production operated in accordance with the international food safety system.

A Blow to the Entire Community’s Economy
The closure of the plant could seriously affect not only the company’s employees but also the financial stability of the Bohodukhiv community.
According to a report by the Bohodukhiv City Council, in 2025, Bohodukhiv Dairy Plant LLC paid 14.566 million UAH in personal income tax (PIT) to the local budget.
This is 4.544 million UAH more than the previous year.
The plant was among the community’s nine largest PIT payers.
These enterprises alone accounted for about 39% of all personal income tax revenue.
At the same time, personal income tax remains the main source of revenue for the community’s general fund. In the forecast for 2026, its share was estimated at approximately 61%.
Why This Is More Than Just a Production Shutdown
In recent months, Russian attacks have increasingly targeted not only energy and transportation infrastructure but also Ukrainian manufacturing enterprises.
In the case of the Bohodukhiv Dairy Plant, the consequences could manifest in several ways:
- a reduction in dairy production;
- the risk of job losses;
- a decrease in tax revenue for the local budget;
- additional economic pressure on the community during the war.
In fact, this is not just about damage to a single enterprise, but a blow to the region’s economic stability.
