The third installment of Avatar grossed over $1 billion at the box office

The third film in the Avatar franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ashes” has passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. This was reported by Collider, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The film’s director, James Cameron, has managed to achieve this result for the fourth time – for the first time, his project Titanic became the leader of the global box office. Titanic grossed over $2 billion during its run. Also, all parts of Avatar were a success with the audience. The first movie also remains the highest-grossing in the history of film distribution.

“Fire and Ashes is the third film in James Cameron’s franchise. In the film, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri, who must face a new threat – an aggressive pre-Na’vi tribe known as the People of Ashes on the mineral-rich planet Pandora.

According to Bloomberg, the success of Avatar: Fire and Ashes” completes a strong year for Disney’s movie division. In 2025, Lilo and Stitch and Zootopia 2 have already grossed more than $1 billion each at the global box office, with Zootopia 2, released in November, breaking the mark for the fastest animated release in Hollywood history.
