Three Silpo supermarkets made it onto an international ranking: what criteria were used to select them?

Three Silpo supermarkets have made the “Europe’s Finest Store” ranking by the international magazine European Supermarket Magazine (ESM) for the tenth time. This year, the list includes three of the chain’s designer supermarkets—in Kyiv, Palianytsia (Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast), and Vasylkiv (Kyiv Oblast). This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the Ukrainian Retailers Association.
Every year, the editors of ESM recognize the most interesting new and renovated stores in Europe. The jury evaluates their architectural solutions, design, innovation, and customer experience.
The 2026 ranking includes 34 stores from 15 European countries.
“Silpo is the only Ukrainian retailer featured on this list,” the report states.
European Supermarket Magazine has included Silpo in its “Europe’s Finest Store” list for the tenth consecutive year. Previous entries in the ranking included:
- in 2025—the cyberculture-themed Silpo in Lviv, the Silpo dedicated to primitive art in Poltava, and the plasticine-themed Silpo (Irpin, Kyiv Oblast);
- in 2024—the neo-folk-style Silpo in Lviv, the “Goblincor”-style Silpo in Bilohorodka, and the Silpo dedicated to glassblowing in Yavoriv;
- in 2023 — an “emotional” Silpo in Rivne, a Silpo dedicated to helicopters in a retrofuturistic style in Boryspil, and a Silpo exploring geographical myths in Kryukivshchyna;
- in 2022 — a dieselpunk-themed Silpo in Kharkiv, a Silpo dedicated to Brazil in Kyiv, and a Silpo inspired by Kabuki theater in Uman;
- in 2021 — a Silpo inspired by *The Little Prince* (Shchaslyve village, Kyiv Oblast), a Silpo in the style of 1950s American diners (Odesa), and Silpo ReCycling (Sofiivska Borshchahivka village, Kyiv Oblast);
- in 2020 — a Silpo inspired by Van Gogh’s art (Kyiv), a Silpo inspired by the Mavka universe (Kyiv), and a “Murkotyk” Silpo (Kyiv);
- in 2019 — a steampunk-style Silpo (Vyshhorod), a Silpo dedicated to the Wild West (village of Stoyanka, Kyiv Oblast), and a space-themed Silpo (Kharkiv);
- in 2018 — Le Silpo in Odesa;
- in 2017 — a Silpo with a Jamaican vibe (Brovary, Kyiv Oblast), a Silpo dedicated to “Alice in Wonderland” (Lviv), and a loft-punk-themed Silpo (Kyiv).
