Why the stores were closed for nearly six months
The Gulliver shopping center was closed on October 30, 2025, following a meeting of the Oschadbank Emergency Commission due to the danger to human life and the operation of the complex, including as a result of the refusal of employees of Tri O LLC to transfer control of the complex’s critical engineering systems.
At that time, Inditex stores suspended operations at the Gulliver shopping center.
On February 1, 2026, the shopping center announced the resumption of operations, but Inditex stores remained closed.
What is known about the Gulliver scandal
On October 30, 2025, Gulliver temporarily suspended operations. Oschadbank explained at the time that the decision was made for the safety of visitors and tenants, as well as to avoid emergency and man-made risks.
According to Oschadbank, the shopping center near the Sports Palace suspended operations due to a corporate conflict. The foreclosure proceedings were initiated by two state-owned banks due to the failure of TRI O LLC—the debtor and owner of the complex—to fulfill its obligations under the loan agreement.
Following the temporary closure of the retail and office complex, operations were gradually resumed. The phased reopening began back in December, and the complex became fully operational on February 1, 2026. Meanwhile, Inditex stores resumed operations later—on April 24.
This is an important signal for the market, as Inditex stores are traditionally among the main anchor fashion operators in large shopping centers. Their return could increase foot traffic at Gulliver and strengthen the shopping center’s position in downtown Kyiv.
